The Ctenanthe (never never plant) is closely related to the Calatheas. It is an evergreen perennial, mainly from Brazil. Although eye catching the are apparently difficult to grow. The Ctenanthe have a long list of hates - direct sunlight (this one is standing in the sun), temperatures below 60F, cold or hard water and feeding after repotting. It needs high humidity. Feed in the summer. Propagate by division.

We bought this C. Oppenheimiana in the Q3 2000.
