Perfect for any shade planting, these ferns are easy to grow and many will cope with dry shade once established. An excellent foil to other plants, they have a quiet charm all of their own when the fronds unfurl in spring to reveal the fresh, divided foliage. There are many attractive forms available.
Some is evergreen and semi evergreen, others are deciduous.

Filix-mas is more tollerant for sun and exposure. Generally likes moist soil in shade and appreciate yearly application of organic material. once establishded, some can tollerate trier soil
2021-10-01: Last year and the year before, we bought in many ferns, most did not survive. I am still trying to work out what went wrong. I think mostly, the ferns where too exposed, and the first winter killed them off.
