Grow in almost any soil,but avoid very wet or very dry situations. Prefers a humus-rich soil in partial shade but will grow in full sun. Deadhead after flowering to avoid problems with excess numbers of seedlings.

They like to grow in the sun but it is probably best to grow them in an area that is partially shaded in the afternoon

2024-02-07: germination is taking place. moving the new hatchlings to under lights indoors. Germination of all three varieties is more or less at the same time

2024-01-25: sow seed in pods indoors

2024-01-01: Received seed in Jan 2023 but never managed to sow it in 2023 sowing year. This included three varieties: White, laevigata, and grandiflora

2024-01-25: Sow RHS seed for digitalis purpurea f. albiflora - white; Digitalis Laevigata and Digital Grandiflora. This later winter sowing is an experiment as it is more common to sow this in August

2023-10-22: After reading up more about sowing Digitalis , I realise I am too late for it. Will sow them in the spring to be planted out next autumn.
