Gypsophila

Baby’s breath, Chalk plant

Gypsophila is a genus of flowering plants in the carnation family, Caryophyllaceae. They are native to Eurasia, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. Turkey has a particularly high diversity of Gypsophila taxa, with about 35 endemic species. Some Gypsophila are introduced species in other regions.

The paniculata species is a short-lived perennial. It will produce numerous sprays of tiny white tubular flowers with pointed, small dark green leaves. It will grow about 1m tall. You should cut back after flowering to encourage a second flush of blooms. Grow them in dry sandy soils which are well drained and alkaline, Give them full sun to partial shade.

Seed & roots sowing went well - got a number of plants growing, but is very slow - still in greenhouse the roots is now only starting to push through seems to be prone to snails
