philadelphus
Syringa, Mock orange
The genus consists of 40 species of deciduous shrubs. They grow about 3m high and wide and will produce light green roughly elliptical leaves which are about 8cm long. They will flower in late spring and early summer and produce white or cream flowers in loose clusters. They are fully to frost hardy, and they will need sun and fertile well drained soil. You can propagate by softwood cuttings in the summer. The Burfordensis is a vigorous, deciduous, upright shrub has ovate, toothed, dark green leaves. Bears profuse racemes of large, single, cup-shaped, white flowers in early summer to mid summer.
